[Exclusive Interview]
Could you please take a moment to say hello and introduce yourself to Melody Magazine?
Hello Melody Magazine! My name is Cherelle K. I am a rapper, actress, and Director in Austin, Texas but, I am from Louisiana. I just released my first ever full Mixtape project titled “The Lovely Bones Mixtape” including 14 songs. It is available on all streaming platforms and At Love Wheel Records and Antone's record shop in Austin.
What influenced you to want to pursue music?
This has honestly been my dream since i was a little girl, but i had no clue how i was going to get here. I didn't do the band, choir, or anything concerning music growing up.. But i always had dreams of being a musician and performing. When i graduated college and moved to Austin, i knew it was time to get my music career started.
What was your inspiration for “The Lovely Bones Mixtape” and what does this album signify to you?
My inspiration for the mixtape is my life & journey thus far. This project signify growth and my ability to do anything when I put my mind to it!
Could you tell us a little bit about the process of creating this mixtape?
When I first started taking the music serious in the beginning of 2024.. I had like 8 beats I picked out and just said to myself, “this is going to be my mixtape beats”.. But turned out, I could not write to ONE of those beats. I had to give myself time to grow, go through life, and find the right beats that i felt fit the story i was trying to tell. This was a slow process that took over a year and a half to do. But piece by piece it came together.
I am so happy it happen this way. Because i have grown so much as a person since i have started my music journey.
Are there any artists that inspire your music style?
The whole 90s era inspires me heavy. But some artist are Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliot, Queen Latifah, lil Kim, Ice Cube
Even comedians inspire me.. How they are able project to an audience and capture their attention; Such as Martin Lawrence and Eddie Murphy.
Any dream collaborations? (Artist or Producers)
Collabing with music can be such a treaty thing. But, I would love to collab with any of my inspirations. But also, on a film standpoint, i would love to make a film with jordan peele one day.
Which one of your songs would you recommend to someone who is listening to you for the first time?
Definitely “Comin’ Back” or “Last Name Kozak”. Those two have been across the board favorites.
Is there anything we have left out that you would like to share with your fans/readers of Melody Magazine?
On top of music and the excitement i have to start my next project. I have a short film/ comic in development called “Hood Wolf”. It will be in its first panel at “Manga Marvels and Morsels” fest in august 2026. So keep an eye out for that, new music, performances, and different films i will be acting in!
